How to Use Character Map?

Character Map is an independent app used for inserting symbols in Window computer.

  • Press “Win Logo + R” keys to open Run prompt.
  • Type charmap and hit enter key.

  • This will open the Character Map.

  • You can change the Font, Character set or search for symbols using search box.
  • Click on the “Group by” and select “Unicode Subrange” option. This option will be available only for the standard fonts like Arial.
  • A new pop-up will open from which you can select the symbol group.

  • You can either double click on a symbol to insert or select the symbol and click “Copy” button to place in clipboard.
How to Close Emoji Panel After Inserting Emoji?

In Windows 10, you can insert emoji using emoji panel with keyboard shortcuts. However, after inserting the panel still remains open. Follow the below instructions to close the panel after inserting the emoji.

  • Press “Win Logo + I” keys to open Windows Settings app.
  • Click on “Devices” option and go to “Typing” settings.
  • Scroll down on the right pane and click on “Advanced keyboard settings”.
  • Disable the checkbox against the option “Don’t close the panel automatically after an emoji has been inserted” under “Emoji panel” section.

How to Insert Emoji in Windows 10?

Windows 10 allows you to insert emoji using an independent emoji keyboard or panel.

  • Press “Win Logo + Dot” keys or “Win Logo + Semi-colon” keys to open the emoji panel.
  • You can insert different emoji, mathematical operators and kaomoji symbols.

This method works only in Windows 10 and you have to use alt code shortcuts or Character Map or Symbol utility in Windows 7 and 8.
